My Six Can't-Live-Without Products Right Now
People ask me all the time what I actually use and recommend, not what I'm supposed to say, but what I genuinely reach for. So here are the six products I can't live without at the moment. A few are the finishing touches I use on almost every client in my chair, and every one of them has earned its spot.
1. Kérastase Gloss Absolu Hydra-Glaze Shampoo
My favourite shampoo right now, and the start of that just-left-the-salon shine. It's from the Gloss Absolu line, built around one thing: making hair reflect light. It uses hyaluronic acid to plump the hair with moisture and glycolic acid to gently smooth and polish the surface, so it cleanses without stripping and leaves your hair feeling clean and airy rather than squeaky. If your hair's been looking dull or dry, this is where I'd start.
2. Kérastase Gloss Absolu Insta Glaze Conditioner
The partner to the shampoo, and where a lot of the magic happens. It hydrates and detangles while sealing the cuticle, that outer layer of the hair, so light bounces off it for a glassy, glossy finish. It's rich and smoothing but still lightweight, so you get shine and softness without losing your volume or feeling weighed down.
3. Kérastase Chroma Absolu High Shine Gloss
When I want that treatment feeling at home, I'm obsessed with this one. It's a weekly rinse-out gloss made for colour-treated hair. It lifts dulling buildup off the surface and seals the cuticle, which is what gives you that glassy shine and silky feel, you can honestly feel the difference the second it touches your hair. Use it about once a week, or every couple of weeks whenever your hair needs a pick-me-up. Bonus: sealing the cuticle also helps your colour stay vibrant instead of fading.
4. Kérastase L'Incroyable Blowdry
My go-to heat protection, and the one I recommend to anyone who touches a hot tool. It's a heat-activated styling lotion that protects up to 450°F, gives up to 96 hours of frizz control even in humidity, and has a clever shape-memory technology. Once you've styled it, you can reactivate the shape with heat without reapplying product, so you can restyle on day two or three and your hair still cooperates. If you blow-dry or iron regularly, this one's non-negotiable for me.
5. Kérastase Elixir Ultime Hair Oil
The multitasker I use on almost every hair type, wet or dry. It's a lightweight blend of nourishing oils (camellia, argan and more) that adds serious shine, smooths frizz, softens, and even protects from heat up to 450°F, all without feeling greasy or heavy. I'll use a pump before blow-drying or a tiny bit on dry ends to finish. A little goes a long way, so start with one pump and build up.
6. KMS HairStay Working Spray
To finish a look, this is my hairspray of choice. The reason I love a working spray is that it gives a flexible, buildable, medium hold you can still touch and move. You can brush through it, reshape it, and restyle with no crunch, stickiness, or white flaking. It holds your style without freezing it in place, which is exactly what you want for a soft, natural-looking pretty finish.
