How to Choose a Hair Salon in London, Ontario

Finding a new salon can feel like a gamble, but it doesn’t have to be. My honest, number-one tip: when you see someone whose hair you love, ask them where they got it done. A real recommendation from a real person tells you more than any ad ever could.

Keep in mind your hair might be different from theirs. But if there’s something about the look or the feel of their hair that you’re drawn to, that’s a great lead to follow.

Do a little homework first

Before you book with anyone, a few minutes of looking around goes a long way:

  • Look at their work, not just their logo. Most salons and stylists post real client photos on Instagram. If you want balayage, look for balayage. If you want curly cuts, look for curls. You want to see that they do your thing, and do it often.

  • Read a few reviews, and notice how the salon responds to them. How a business handles feedback tells you how they’ll treat you.

  • Make sure they specialize in what you need. A stylist who lives and breathes colour is a different animal from a cutting specialist. Both are wonderful, you just want the right one for what you’re after.

Then book a consultation

Once you’ve got a name, book a consultation before committing to a full appointment. At Salon Entrenous, consultations are complimentary. They don’t take long, and they’re the best way to find out whether you and your stylist are the right fit. No pressure, just a conversation about your hair and what you’re hoping for. If it clicks, you book. If it doesn’t, you’ve lost nothing but a few minutes.
